Pastor Danny Nalliah does it again

Pastor Danny Nalliah has done it again. Now he is blaming the decriminalisation of abortion for the wildfires in Victoria. See the article on the Sydney Morning Herald website.

While no-one can be in favour of too many abortions, it should remain an option in family planning. Pastor Nalliah is guilty of an egregious over-extension of his narrow religious beliefs at a time such as this. When people are hurting over the appalling human costs of the last few days as Victoria has suffered from fires which extend beyond the old definitions of extreme, the last thing they need is bible-bashing pontifications from Danny Nalliah.

Perhaps when the danger has subsided we can discuss issues such as climate change, over-population and "stay-or-leave" policies, but now is not that time. Today we need to be doing what we can to support those who are suffering, whether by donating money, goods or time. Bible-basher finger-pointing does nothing that helps anyone.

If there is a theistic god, perhaps now is the time for him (it, or her?) to do something useful and send a bolt of lightning and finish Pastor Nalliah off!

There is no accounting for the idiocy of some people. How someone could justify such stupidity by quoting something written about 2,500 years ago is just unbelievable. The man's a nutter. Anyone giving credence to any of his outbursts should reflect on the stupidity of this one.

If he read his own bible, including the parts he finds inconvenient, he would see, in Luke chapter 13: At that very time there were some present who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. He asked them, ‘Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.’

Barney Zwartz in The Age has a clear-sighted non-rabid Christian response to Nalliah's rant:

Pastor Nalliah made a statement that God has withdrawn His blessings. Biblical records show the consequences of that. As a nation we have really fallen from our Christian tradition as a christian nation,
Lawlessness, pornography, violence, murder on TV and day to day life, loss of christian education in schools, the tolerance of faiths that oppose our God, witchcraft, homosexuality, gay marriages, ministers in some of our churches that say you don't need christ for heaven or eternal life, etc, etc. On new years eve l listened to a medium on Bendigo radio who said she saw fire everywhere for Victoria. The Bible says messages from mediums is messages from the demonic realm. The Devils plan but no protection from God. Were not most of the fires deliberately lit. An evil act.
I don't expect to see things improve for our nation until we repent of these things and change. I won't hold my breath waiting. I might order another water tank to save some water. If we ever get any . In Dunolly we have only received 15mm in 4 months. Certainly not blessed.

I think it is very different to withdraw than to actively cause a fire that will kill people

Leader of Catch the Fire does it again; this "leader is known to shoot his mouth off and did so on television two days ago - stating that a "missing person" had all the hallmarks of a Islamic fundamentalist abduction and that you would probably find her body in a paddock sooner or later. Turned out the husband did the job....
