June 1 - A 17-year-old who tried to organise a student strike on Friday over changes to St Edmund’s College including to its crest, the uniform and, potentially, song has been suspended indefinitely after the headmaster allegedly said his presence at the school would be "too dangerous".

June 1 – (Opinion: Jacqueline Rousselot ) Picture this: a row of girls aged 12 to 18, kneeling before a male teacher who inspects the hems of their dresses to make sure they touch the ground, justifying it as "school policy" and for "personal safety".

Catholic plan to combat homophobic bullying praised by education experts (The Guardian, Australia)
June 1 - Education experts have praised a new policy developed by Catholic schools to combat transphobic and homophobic bullying as a “terrific resource”, saying it proves the messages of the Safe Schools program are compatible with religious education.

May 30 - With their heads covered with Islamic headscarves, the three members of the Indonesian band VoB ("Voice of Baceprot" or "Noisy Voice") do not look like your typical heavy metal group.

’Bomb violence with mercy’: anti-terror ad goes viral in Middle East (The Guardian, Australia)
May 30 - A Ramadan TV ad by a Middle Eastern telecommunications company in which victims of terrorism confront a suicide bomber and urge society to “bomb violence with mercy” has provoked a heated debate in the region, with some praising its attempt to tackle extremism and others criticising it for using victims of bombings and a simplistic portrayal of terrorists.

Militants allied with Islamic State execute Filipinos who could not recite prayers (Sydney Morning Herald)  
May 29 - Extremists allied with Islamic State are believed to have executed Filipinos in a besieged southern city of the Philippines because they could not recite Islamic prayers, as the death toll from six days of fighting rose to 100, with dozens wounded.

June 2 - Perth Muslim students attending a career expo at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre were allegedly forced to leave after onlookers felt threatened by their "attire" because of Manchester’s suicide bombing.

’The devil’s after our kids’: Margaret Court’s second serve (The Age, Melbourne)
June 1 - Far from modifying her denouncement of gay marriage, tennis champion Margaret Court has broadened it, saying that it was causing huge problems in countries where it was legalised, that homosexuality was an ungodly "lust for the flesh" and that LGBT tendencies in young people were "all the devil".
