May 11 - British police have apologised after officers shouted the Arabic phrase "Allahu akbar!" during a terror training exercise in a shopping centre in northern England.

Iran halts participation in annual hajj pilgrimage as relations with Saudi sour (Sydney Morning Herald)  
May 13 - Iran announced on Thursday it will suspend its participation in the annual hajj, the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia that is a religious duty for all Muslims, in the latest sign of deteriorating relations between the two Middle Eastern heavyweights.
