Top spending outlay offers $245m for religious advisers in schools (The Australian)
May 14 - THE pet program of former prime minister John Howard, ­installing chaplains to instil values in schools, will be extended for the next five years and revert to the original condition of only providing religious advisers.

May 14 - Australia will list the Islamic militant group Boko Haram as a terrorist organisation in response to the recent kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria.

May 14 - Key Muslim leaders in Sydney have appealed directly to the man most likely to become the next NSW police commissioner, asking him to back away from enforcing "draconian" laws that make it a crime to support the civil war in Syria.

May 12 - Wyong Shire Council has rejected a Church of Scientology proposal for a controversial drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in the Yarramalong Valley in the central coast hinterland.
